Manchester is a Village in South-Western Washtenaw County and is a small, closely-knit community, which provides opportunities for leisure time, involvement in organizations, churches, and schools. Community-wide festivities are still a dominant theme in Village life. The Village is a full service center and not a suburb. Location scouts have taken advantage of Manchester's "old town" feeling. The Carrier (1988) was filmed in Manchester, as was Flipped (2010). The annual Manchester Chicken Broil serves approximately 14,000 broiled chicken meals over a four-hour span and will celebrate it's 65th birthday in 2018. Housing varies from the old Victorian style homes close to the downtown area to small subdivisions with charming mid-century housing and some newer mid-size homes. Most of the housing is rural and can be found on several acres of land outside the Village.
